Practical Nurse

Practical Nurses are essential to the healthcare profession and are vital links between physicians, registered nurses, and patients. Responsibilities consist of planning, evaluating, and implementing nursing care and procedures. A Practical Nurse also observes, records, and reports to supervisory personnel the general physical and mental conditions as well as signs and symtoms of the patient. In addition, administering medication, providing wound and ostomy care, and preparing patients for operative and other treatment procedures is also an important role of a Practical Nurse. Practical Nurses are able to work in the following settings: hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, private doctor's offices, and home care settings.
PN Classes offered every January, May, and September. Full time day schedule runs Monday thru Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m for a duration of twelve (12) months. Part time evening schedule runs Monday thru Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for a duration of eighteen (18) months.
Medical Assistant

Medical Assistants are amongst the fastest growing segment of healthcare workers over the past decade. Administrative duties include Billing and Coding (processing insurance claims), scheduling appointments, maintaining patient files, maintaining inventory and ordering supplies, handling emergencies as well as supervise staff. Clinical duties include performing (EKG's) electrocardiograms, obtaining blood and other specimens, recording vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, respiration) administering medications and injections, performing basic laboratory tests, preparing patients for office procedures, and a host of other responsibilities within their scope of practice. Medical Assistants are able to work in the following settings: long term care facilities, hospital out- patient clinics, hospital emergency rooms, and private doctor's offices including EKG Technician and Phlebotomist practices.
MA Classes will be offered three times a year. Full Time day schedule will run Monday thru Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for a duration of nine (9) months. Part time evening schedule will run Monday thru Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. for a duration of fifteen (15) months.
Certified Nurse Aide
Certified Nurse Aides (entry level) play a vital role in long term care facilities. Aides ensure personal needs of residents are being safely and adequately met which includes feeding, bathing, shaving, dressing, transfers and lifting and other basic patient related tasks. The program incorporates therapeutic communication, confidentiality, coping skills dealing with the issues of death and dying, resident safety and state/ federal regulations governing health care. Certified Nurse Aides are able to work in the following settings: hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, and home care settings.
CNA Classes are offered monthly. Full time day schedule runs Monday thru Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for a duration of four (4) weeks.
